RISE AND SHINE. I am bringing in more and more deep blue into my home lately so I picked up some blue and white fabric for a new table cloth at Hobby Lobby this past weekend. I wanted a more modern looking pattern to update the cobalt blue pieces I have since I first married 16 years ago. While at Hobby Lobby, I found these orange and white quatrefoil design plates on sale. They are plastic and I thought they'd be fun for summer and outdoor parties. I also thought they'd be fun on a breakfast table with my Mexican made cobalt blue rimmed glasses. Above, you can see I also added orange and blue rick rack ribbons for some extra table top color. I am thinking of using this modern blue and white fabric for place mats and using the rick rack for trim. Place mats can be fun and easy for casual meals, imo. Also, I admit I still feel like I want something for under the orange plates, but I didn't have anything solid navy blue and square or white and square to use. Because the geometric shapes are a big part of the appeal for me in this setting, I don't want to use round place mats, plates or chargers. I think it would make it seem less modern. I may make some square navy place mats since I plan on using this setting for awhile. I may google around for some solid color DIY place mat ideas. Whatever I do, I will do a follow up post. |
Love it! You guys always do such beautiful tablescapes!

ReplyDeletePam,
DeleteThanks so much. I know it may not be for everyone, but I am digging the colors so much. I was pretty excited to find the plates on sale at Hobby Lobby. I hope we get plenty of chances to use them this summer.

I love your tablescape, orange is my favorite color. I must know where you got those plates from! Also I am a new follower on GFC. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like orange, too. It is such a positive, cheerful color. I bought the plates at Hobby Lobby this past weekend. Hobby Lobby is a craft store here in Austin. I think the chain is in other states, too, but I am not sure. These plates were on sale along with all their Spring items. Since they are plastic, they were really inexpensive. I think they were originally $5 a plate and they were either 30% or 40% off. I bought all the ones they had at my store and plan on going to the other store in our town to see if they have more. I think they will be really fun for summer dinners.
DeleteAnd thank you for following us! I believe I have followed everyone back on both GFC and Linky Followers at this point. If I am mistaken, please just let me know and I will try again. :D

Wow, what a way to start the day! I love this vibrant table...
ReplyDeleteMarigene,
DeleteAwww, thank you. I am so glad you like the table. I agree that it is a very vibrant one, but I really dig that for spring and summer especially so I couldn't resist the plates when they were on sale.

Beautiful table! I was out shopping yesterday and this color combo seems to be really hot for Spring. Love it. Thanks for linking to the Open House Party. Hugs, Sherry
ReplyDeleteSherry,
DeleteThank you so much for visiting and leaving a comment. I haven't seen that much blue and orange in stores yet where I shop, but I am digging that combination. I have seen weddings pics online with the color combination and before painting my living room walls a dark blue, I found a lot of blue and orange stuff on Pinterest that I fell in love with. I got my new Ballards Designs catalogue yesterday and it has a blue living room on the cover. Since I've loved Ballards forever, I was pretty excited to see that. Until then, the main examples of the colors I have been using in my house lately have come from Metoropolitan Home/Mid century modern type settings and pictures which has not normally been my style. I am hoping this is a sign that more inspiration on how to use these colors (from sources I have long admired) is coming.
Thanks for hosting the Open House party and allowing us to link up.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Back Porch.
DeleteThe stemware on the Garden Table is Mikasa, found at a Mikasa Outlet several years ago. I bought four of each size and don't recall the pattern.
Your blue and orange table is spectacular!
Pat,
DeleteThank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question. That was so nice of you. I will keep an eye out from now on for those glasses. I thought they were fantastic in your setting. But, honestly, the whole setting just worked beautifully.
I'm glad you like the blue and orange table. I've never done a setting this bright before, but I like it.

Wow, you've definitely created an eye catching setting, and it's terrific the way you've used the oranges and blueberries to carry out the theme.
ReplyDeletelulumusing,
DeleteThank you for visiting and leaving a comment. I think part of why the combination appealed to me is that I like bright colored foods as well. I like lemons, blueberries, strawberries, oranges, cucumbers, kiwi etc. If the color appears in nature, it gets a little extra boost in my esteem. I do use oranges and blueberries for breakfast so this color combination just seemed to click for me.
So glad you liked the combination, too.

Such a lovely table, I really like the dark blue and orange together, so pretty and an attention getter. Like the different graphics going on! I also love bold colors, could never get in to monochrome rooms. I so need color. Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration at Sunday's Best.
