RE-ceiving Guests: Blue and White Luncheon

OUT OF TOWN VISITOR LUNCHEON.  A couple summers ago, Reba offered to host some out of town visitors for one of the groups she supports over to her home for lunch.  This was during the summer time so she kept the menu and the color scheme very light.  She used white table cloths with navy blue and white toile runners and navy and white buffalo check napkins for the table linens.  For the centerpieces, she used her round oriental white and blue round planters.  As you can see HERE, she has gotten a lot of use out of those pots and the Blue Italian plates. She also placed white basketweave ceramic baskets for bread in the middle of the table.

FRENCH COUNTRY BLUE.  Reba used Spode Blue Italian plates on dark blue chargers.   As we have mentioned before, Blue Italian was my everyday china when I got married and Reba liked it so much she began collecting it, too.  Our other sister, Elsa, joined in as well, so now if anyone hosts a large party, we usually have enough Blue Italian/Blue Room plates for everyone.    The goblets are blue cobalt.  The silver is Towle Old Master, Reba's wedding silver.
NAPKINS & NAPKIN RINGS.  The navy and off white buffalo napkins were held by monogrammed silver napkin rings and placed on top of the plates at the place setting.  White roses and blue hydrangeas were used for the blue and white centerpieces.   Reba made a frozen dessert for the party that looked like watermelon from different sorbets.  Either Reba or I will make a separate post about the dessert soon.

    1. Richard,

Thank you so much for your comment. I think the cobalt blue goblets worked well with Reba's set up, too. It is so nice that you want to follow our blog, but I do not see you listed as a follower on GFC, linky follower or via email. Sometimes it doesn't go thru when you try to follow. I will drop by your blog later today and we will be glad to follow your blog. Thank you for the invitation. :D

  3. OK...when are you having your NEXT blue and white luncheon because I'm inviting myself right now. Its absolutely gorgeous. Love love love it. I'm such a blue and white nut anyway...I have alot of it in my kitchen and other places so when I see a table done in it I really get excited. Its neat too that you all have enough plates between you to put it together for a large group. Thats whats great about having sisters! Great post!

    Hugs,

    1. Nann,

You are the sweetest! Thank you so much. Blue and white is one of my favorite color combinations, too. I think Reba's table turned out very nicely, too, but I am a big fan of toile as you know. And yes, we are lucky to be able to borrow from our sisters. It is a pretty good deal. :D

Thanks again for the supportive comment.

  9. What a lovely blue and white table. The Spode Blue Italian is a favorite with pastorial scenes. The colbalt blue goblets compliments the china. I like your use of the blue toile runner with the tablecloth. Happy Tea Party! Pam

  13. Love the combination of Spode blue and white plates. I've always wanted to have a whole set of the Spode Greek pattern...haven't accomplished that...yet. Have you seen the blue Greek pattern with touches of orange in the design...pretty amazing pattern. The buffalo checks and toile mixed with the transfer ware make a beautiful tablescape. Thank you for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
